About Dr. Semantha Charles
Dr. Semantha Charles was born in Saint Lucia, a small island in the Caribbean. At age eleven, she left the island to attend boarding school in England, the United Kingdom. Upon graduation from boarding school, she moved to New York for college and graduated from the City University of New York with a BA in Biochemistry. Dr. Charles became interested in dentistry after coming from a mission trip in South Africa, where she shadowed oral surgeons working with patients who suffered from cleft lip and palate. This happened to be the summer before she enrolled into dental school.
Dr. Charles attended University of Maryland dental school in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Charles attended Bronx Lebanon Hospital General Practice Residency program located in New York City. For two years she enjoyed providing care to both children and adults of all ages. Upon completing her training at Bronx Lebanon, Dr. Charles enrolled in Pediatric residency in Providence Rhode Island at NYU Langone pediatric residency program. Upon completion, Dr. Charles moved to Texas where she has been providing care to patients for the last seven years. In her spare time, Dr. Charles enjoys teaching kids both academic work and sports. She is passionate about tennis and she loves to swim. She also loves to travel, as her family is spread over several countries namely, St. Lucia, Nigeria, England, Italy, and the Virgin Islands, and the United States.
